CADA Urges Stability as Canada-U.S. Trade Impasse Continues
|
Canada-U.S. trade negotiations remain at a standstill, leaving dealers and the broader automotive sector facing continued tariffs and uncertainty over when the two countries may return to the negotiating table.
There have been a few signs of immediate movement since Prime Minister Mark Carney suspended negotiations in August. U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer said Sept. 1 that there are currently no trade negotiations underway.
Carney nevertheless left the door open to renewed discussions, saying he still believes the two countries can reach a mutually beneficial agreement if the U.S. is prepared to return to serious negotiations.
